Exploit surplus heat and save

As part of the 2020 plan, the R22 refrigerant is being phased out in 2014 – this means:

  • It is illegal to install new cooling systems with synthetic refrigerants, R22 (prohibited in Denmark since 2000)
  • Spare parts are more difficult to find and more expensive, as they are being phased out by manufacturers
  • As of 1 January 2014, it is illegal to use and replenish regenerated R22 refrigerants from disused systems when servicing existing systems

It is therefore recommended that businesses:

  • Convert an existing R22 cooling system to use an alternative synthetic refrigerant (only relevant for smaller systems)
  • Replace an existing R22 cooling system with a new, state-of-the-art system based on natural refrigerants
  • Hook up to a remote cooling system
